I’m so excited to be on Monaluna’s Wanderlust Blog Tour hosted by Phat Quarters. I was able to meet the sweet ladies behind Phat Quarters fabric shop while in Salt Lake City and it was so fun to meet and form a friendship. I was so honored that they asked me to join the fabric tour for the Wanderlust collection along with some really talented bloggers. Make sure to check out the rest of the tour and enter to win THREE different prizes. All prize details are at the end of the post!
Check out this great line up of super talented ladies I’m joining this week.
All of Monaluna fabrics are really beautiful. The Wanderlust collection is gorgeous and it comes in 8 Poplin prints and 6 Lawn prints. I was immediately drawn to the Sky and Sun Spots prints and used the Lawn fabric. I have to tell you I was so impressed with the hand/feel of this organic lawn fabric – it is so lovely and just perfect for apparel. I knew I wanted to use a pattern that would show large panels and would display the full art repeat, if possible. After giving it some thought I decided to draft a new pattern with this fabric in mind. Taking a cue from my girls, I settled on a maxi dress. If you ask them, maxi dress + bare-feet + wild hair is the only way to live. The dress pattern has a center front pleat and border hem. I actually decreased the width of the skirt from my originally design so that it would fit the width of the fabric, but I think this fullness is perfect. The border hem gives is a bit of weight and maintains the shape of the skirt while still having really beautiful movement. I’ve made my girls a few of these dresses and I was thinking it would be fun to release this pattern. I know summer is slipping away but I’ll be working to get this pattern finished so you can make one, too.
When I read more about the back story of the Wanderlust inspiration I totally got the vibe of this collection and felt like it really fit the spirit of my girls and this pattern. You can read the full post that Jennifer Moore, the owner of Monaluna, posted here. For the photoshoot I thought the farm in Tildon Park located in the Berkley Hills was the perfect backdrop for this dress. It just so happens that Monaluna is a Bay Area company as well so the location was even more fitting. It was a little hard to catch photos of my little lady since she was enjoying running, climbing and jumping around in her new dress but it was easy to see that she loved it. I hope you enjoyed a peek at this new fabric line and love it as much as we do!
