If you haven't already, grab your copy of the Farrah pattern in PDF format here or Printed format here.

NOTIONS

Besides matching thread, tricot or other lightweight interfacing is the only recommended notion for the Farrah pattern.

FABRIC SOURCES

The Farrah pattern is designed to be sewn in a light to medium weight woven fabric with nice drape. Recommended fabrics are rayons like challis, crepe, or voile; cottons such as lawn, voile, or shirting, as well as linen or double gauze fabrics. Using something with a drape similar to rayon will allow the dress or blouse ruffles to fall softly. Selecting a cotton lawn or voile will give a little bit of structure and further emphasize the ruffle shape. Find specific suggestions below or check out our Farrah Pinterest board for links to even more fabric options.

SOLIDS

Use a solid for a classic, elevated look that will stand the test of time. If you want a solid with a some interest, try a double gauze or linen for a more textured look.

PRINTS

If prints are more your style, you really can't go wrong as both small and large scale prints make beautiful Farrah blouses or dresses. If you want to use a stripe but don't want to try stripe matching at the bodice and yoke seams, try playing with directionality instead. Stripes not your thing? Use an all-over floral or other bold print to make a statement.
