Isle Jeans Fabric Recommendations and Inspiration
It feels so good to have the Isle Jeans pattern out in the world! I've been wearing my own versions nonstop and hope they'll become staples for you too! The Isle works great in a variety of stretch bottomweight fabrics and I'm excited to share just a few of my favorite fabric options with you.
First things first, grab yourself a copy of the Isle Jeans pattern if you haven't yet done so.
Before we get into fabric recommendations, there are a few other recommended notions.
NOTIONS
- 1/4 yd (1/4 m) Tricot Fusible Interfacing. We recommend this tricot fusible interfacing from Wawak.
- One 1" - 1 1/4" (25-32 mm) Button
- One 1/2" (12.7 mm) Button
- #4.5 Jeans Zipper, see chart for length
- Zipper Foot
- Denim sewing Needle

FABRIC SOURCES AND READY-TO-WEAR INSPIRATION
Isle is designed for 10-12 oz denim with 10-15% stretch. A minimum 54" width is required for sizes 20-30 to cut the waistband on the fold.
Suggested fabrics are Stretch Denim, Corduroy, or Twill with 10-15% stretch.
STRETCH DENIM
For a classic that never goes out of style, a stretch denim version of the Isle Jeans can't be beat. From a classic deep indigo to a blue jean, it's not hard to find several options in this category.
STRETCH CORDUROY
If you're looking for fun colors or a more vintage, ivy league look, stretch corduroy is a great option. Just be mindful of the stretch percentage when selecting your fabric and the nap of the fabric when laying out pattern pieces.
STRETCH TWILL OR CANVAS
Stretch twill or canvas aren't listed in the recommended fabrics since there can be a wide range of weights and stretch percentages but, if you find one with 10-15% stretch and around a 10 oz weight, they're a great option for finding a variety of colors and prints.
