Sew the hem feature

Marcel Sew Along | Hem

This is the final step before you can wear your Marcel. You can choose to hem with any method that you prefer. I like to use a stitch guide for pressing my double-turned hem. Watch our video or follow along to see this method.

HEM YOUR MARCEL

Unhemmed marcel is shown with a line of stitching 1/4

First prep the dress hem by stitching a fold guide at 1/4” (0.6 cm).

Marcel is turned up once by 1/4

Then press the hem up at 1/4” (0.6 cm), wrong sides together.

Marcel hem is turned up by 1/4

Next, fold the hem up again at 1/4” (0.6 cm) and pin in place. Sew from the wrong side, edgestitching the double-folded hem in place. Make sure your bobbin thread matches your main fabric.

Hem of Marcel is shown complete.

That's it! Press the hem and give your garment a final press.

You are finished with your Marcel! I can't wait to see yours. Make sure to tag Chalk and Notch if you share your makes.

XO, Gabriela
