I am so excited to introduce you to the Fringe! This pattern gives me all kinds of 90's vibes. I'm really wondering why I didn't style it with Doc Martins, a choker, and some dark lipstick. I think I have to get on that, ASAP! However, I'm pretty happy with how these samples turned out, made with fabric sourced from some of my favorite indie fabric shops. I wanted this dress and blouse to feel modern, easy-to-wear (easy-to-sew) and comfortable. I think it does all of those things, and I hope you are going to love making your very own.

Okay, back to the Women's Fringe...The Fringe pattern is a woven pattern that offers two views. View A has a button up front, elbow sleeve and sleeve tab. View B has a pull over, notched front with a cuff. Both views include a blouse length, optional dress pockets and optional waist ties. The optional front or back waist ties can help you achieve a more defined waist; however, I have not included it in any of these samples. The sleeve/cuffs are interchangeable for both views.

The pattern is listed as INTERMEDIATE sewing level with the most difficult sewing steps being: sewing the facings, gathering the skirt ruffle and sewing the buttonholes on View A. These steps are not hard, but they may be a new skill to learn. I have included sewing instructions to give you a clean finish when possible for a professional looking result. There are detailed step-by-step illustrated instructions to help you along the way, and if you'd like more help, the Chalk and Notch Patterns Facebook Group is a great place to get support. Many of the testers are members there, so you have great resources if you ever need them.

This pattern works as an everyday blouse, when you are running around with your kids, working from home or working in an office. The dress can be casual when paired with sandals or dressed up in a stunning fabric. With all of the amazing apparel fabric available now, the options are endless, and I really think the simple silhouette can really highlight a gorgeous print! I highly recommend a fabric with a great drape for the best looking fit. A few recommended fabrics are cotton lawn, cotton voile, rayon challis, rayon voile, linen and double gauze. I will be back on Wednesday, August 23rd with a round up of awesome fabric inspiration from many of my favorite indie fabric shops.
