I’m so happy to announce the release of the Fishtail Kimono with UpCraft Club. You can click HERE and grab your copy right now while it’s on SALE for only $6.00. Sale ends Saturday, November 14.

It will be available exclusively with UpCraft Club for the next 2 days.

Have you heard of UpCraft Club? I first heard of them while listening to a Modern Sewciety Podcast and loved what they are all about. It’s a modern sewing association for people who especially love using digital patterns. Members receive great benefits and their membership is more than paid for every month. They are also working with local sewing shops to be able to sell pdf patterns in stores, which is so great for pattern makers, customers and local shops!

I’ve been working on what feels like forever to bring you this pattern and I’m trilled to be able to say it’s available! Thanks so much for checking it out. I hope you love it!

I’m new to the pdf sewing community but I am really dedicated to offering high quality patterns to my customers. Here are few features included in this pattern and that you can expect from Chalk and Notch patterns:

  • Extended size rage: XXS (18/24 months) to XXL (12 years)
  • Computer drafted pattern pieces
  • Layered printing option
  • No trim tiled pages
  • US and A4 formatting options
  • Print Shop Copy

The Fishtail Kimono is great for all seasons as an extra layer over a dress, jeans and a t-shirt or even a leotard after dance class. I also think it would be super cute in terry cloth as a swim cover up. The fit is very forgiving since it’s a loose-fitting style, making it wearable for several seasons, which is great when our little ones grow so fast.

I consider this a pretty quick sew, listed as: ADVANCED BEGINNER sewing level. The sewing techniques used in the pattern are: gathering, sewing a curved seam and attaching a facing. I think the main thing that can make this style a little tricky to sew is dictated by the fabric you choose. There are detailed instructions and color step-by-step photos so don’t worry if you are a beginner, you can totally sew this!

This style works for wovens and knits. A few recommended fabrics are: light to medium sweater knits, knit rayon blends, chiffon, georgette, rayon challis, etc. Quilting cotton is not recommended.

I’ll be posting more photos soon. We had such a fun photo shoot with the lovely and talented Marita Madeloni. I have so many good ones to share! You can see more photos from the shoot and from many of my testers on Instagram HERE.

For sewing help and questions please join the Chalk and Notch Facebook group. It’s fun I promise and can’t wait to see you there!
