The Joy Jacket hardware kits are here! Now that you have your pattern and you’ve selected your beautiful fabric, the next step is to source trims and hardware. To make it easy for you, we are offering two trim kit options for your Joy.
Starting today, the kits will be available in the shop for pre-sale at a discounted price. The pre-sale orders will close in one week on March 2nd. After the orders from the pre-sale have been filled, we’ll only have a limited number of kits in stock.
Both kit options will be available in seven different colors, and the zippers will be available in two length options of 26” and 28”. We recommend a size 26” zipper length for sizes 0-6 and a 28” zipper length for sizes 8-18. When choosing a trim set, you can opt for a matching or a contrast color to your main fabric. A quick note: only about 1/8″ of the zipper tape will be visible on either side of the teeth. You won’t see too much of it, so don’t worry if your zipper color doesn’t end up being a perfect match.
We hope you have had a chance to search the hashtag #joyjacketpattern on Instagram for loads of inspiration, but here are a few examples of Joys that would match our kits.
To make shopping easier for you, we have linked to suggested fabrics for most of the kit colors. Some of these pairings are matching and some are contrasting.
Thanks go to Blackbird Fabrics, Style Maker Fabrics, La Mercerie, Harts Fabric, Imagine Gnats, Raspberry Creek Fabrics and IndieSew for their support of this pattern and for offering great discounts. Grab the coupon codes in this post here.
Kit color recommendation – Black
The Joy looks really classic in black, and there are lots of options in this color.

Kit color recommendation – Olive
Olive is one of my favorite neutrals. It goes with everything, and it was my top choice for a Joy.
