SEW TIER 1 SKIRT
With the right sides together, sew the tier 1 front and back pieces at the side seams. There are three pieces. Leave the center back finished edges (View A) or center front edge (View B) open. View A will have fusible at the center back and should be finished.
Finish and press seams to the back.
SEW TIER 2 SKIRT
BOTH VIEWS | With the right sides together, sew the tier 2 pieces together at the side seams. There are three pieces.
VIEW A | This tier should be a tube when sewn. Finish and press the seams. VIEW B | Leave the center front edge open. Finish and press the seams to the back.
SEW TIER 3 SKIRT
BOTH VIEWS | With right sides together, sew the tier 3 pieces. There are four pieces.
VIEW A | This tier should be a tube when sewn. Finish and press seams.
VIEW B | Leave the center front edge open. Finish and press the seams to the back.
GATHER THE TOP EDGE OF ALL THE TIERS
Make sure all of the notches are marked on your tier pieces. Change your stitch length to the longest possible length. Sew two parallel baste stitch lines at the top edge of the tiers. Make sure not to backstitch at the beginning or end of your stitch lines and leave long ends to your threads.
- The first line is 1/4″ (0.6 cm) away from the fabric edge.
- The second line is 1/2″ (1.25 cm) away from the fabric edge.
Pull the bobbin threads to gather the tiers.
