We are ready to attach the sleeves to our front and back bodices. Once we do this we’ll sew the side seams and see our raglans take shape.

SEW SLEEVES TO FRONT BODICE

With the right sides together, pin the sleeves to the front bodice, matching notches, 1 notch for the front. Sew the front sleeve seams. Press the sleeve seam allowance towards the bodice. If your fabric is very stretchy, you can cut clear elastic the length of your seams. Attach when sewing to prevent excess stretching on any of the joined seams.

SEW SLEEVES TO THE BACK BODICE

With the right sides together, pin the sleeves to the back bodice, matching the notches, 2 notches for the back. Sew the back sleeve seams.

PREP SLEEVE HEM

Press the sleeve seam allowance towards the bodice. Prep the sleeve hem by pressing the sleeve hem at 3/4” (2 cm), wrong sides together, and unfold.

SEW SIDE SEAMS

With the right sides together, sew the side seams from the sleeve to the hem. Press the seams to the back.

OPTIONAL HEM TAPE OR OVERLOCK

You may find it helpful to use 3/4” (2 cm) fusible knit stay tape to help stabilize your fabric while hemming. If so, apply to the hem. You can also finish the hem edge before hemming.

HEM SLEEVES

With the wrong sides together, fold and press the sleeve hem up 3/4” (2 cm), and pin in place. Topstitch the sleeve hem using a stretch stitch.

We’ll finish our raglans by attaching the neckband and hemming the ruffle.
