Crew Sew Along | Sew Hem and Finishing
STITCH HEM GUIDE AT 1/2″ (1.2 CM) & FOLD EDGE UP
Prep the hem by stitching a fold guide at 1/2" (1.2 cm).
Press the hem up 1/2" (1.2 cm), wrong sides together.
FOLD AGAIN AT 1 3/4″ (4.5 CM) & HEM
Fold the hem up again at 1 3/4" (4.5 cm) and pin in place.
Sew from the wrong side, edgestitching the double-folded hem in place. Sew from the wrong side and make sure your bobbin thread matches your main fabric. Press the hem.
ADD WAIST CLOSURE
Sew buttonholes and button to your waistband. The buttonholes will be on your front waistband and the buttons will be on the back.
Alternatively, you can add a hidden skirt hook and eye for your waistband closure. In this case, the hook will be on the inside of your front waistband (the waistband facing) and the eye will be on the back waistband.
FINAL PRESS
You are finished. Add your belt and give your Crew Shorts or Trousers a final press!
