Pony Tank Sew Along | Sew Side Seams, Armhole Bands, and Hem

We're going to finish sewing our Pony tank! We'll conclude the sew along by sewing the side seams, attaching the armhole bands, and sewing the hem.

SEW SIDE SEAMS

With the right sides together, sew the side seams. Finish and press seams towards the back. Turn right side out.

The Pony Tank front and back bodice pieces are shown pinned at the sides.

SEW & PRESS ARMHOLE BANDS

With the right sides together, sew the armhole bands at the short end. Press seam open. Fold the armhole bands in half with wrong sides together and press.

SEW ARMHOLE BANDS

Line up the seam of the armhole band with the side seam. Continue to pin the rest of the armhole bands around the

armhole, matching the notches, while evenly stretching the armhole band slightly to fit the armhole. Do not stretch the

garment while attaching the bands. Stitch with a stretch stitch or overlock. Finish and press seams towards the bodice.

OPTIONAL HEM TAPE OR OVERLOCK

You may find it helpful to use 3/4” (2 cm) fusible knit stay tape to help stabilize your fabric while hemming. If so, apply

to the hem. You can also finish the hem edge with an overlock before hemming.

An iron attaches fusible hem tape to the bottom of the Pony Tank.

SEW THE HEM

Press the hem, wrong sides together, at 3/4” (2 cm). Topstitch using a regular straight stitch or stretch stitch.

The hem of the Pony Tank is shown finished with a double line of stitching.

FINAL PRESS

Give your Pony Tank a final press and you are done!
