Noe Fabric Recommendations
It's time to talk all about one of my favorite parts of the pattern making process: Choosing fabric for the Noe Tank and Dress. When looking for fabrics, I like to begin by searching through a bit of ready-to-wear inspiration that fits my vision. Below is a quick preview, but you can find even more inspo on the Noe Pinterest board here. Once I've put together that inspiration, it's time to start selecting fabrics.

Below you'll find a bit of advice and some fabric suggestions we've gathered after a quick look around at just a few of the incredible small fabric shops that are part of our sewing community.
FABRIC SOURCES & YIELDS

This style is designed for light to medium-weight woven fabrics. Choosing a fabric with a nice drape with cause the fabric to lie closer to the body and a thicker fabric will cause the fabric to stand away from the body and feel more boxy. For the lining, choose a lightweight lining fabric. I love this Cotton Sateen Lawn; it's beautiful for the main and lining.

The Noe pattern works well in lots of fabric types, making it easy to select a fabric that suits your personal style and desired view. Some of the recommended fabrics are: Chambray, Cotton Block Prints, Cotton Voile, Linen, Rayon Challis, and Rayon Crepe.

BOLD AND BRIGHT PRINTS
Choosing a pretty printed rayon, voile, or linen will make a gorgeous Noe Dress and is especially striking in the long dress view with a ruffle hem.
YARN DYED WOVENS
There are so many incredible yarn dyed woven cotton and linen fabrics available these days and they're a perfect match for the Noe pattern. Depending on the fabric content and weight, these fabrics may fit a bit more boxy than a rayon or lighter weight fabric.
CLASSIC SOLIDS
A solid tank top or a-line dress truly never goes out of style and is a great way to get plenty of wear out of your dress or tank. During development, I sewed a bright pink Noe Tank, and I've been having so much fun pairing it with several of my other patterns.
After choosing your main fabric, you'll need a bit of lining fabric, coordinating thread, and may find a few optional notions helpful.
LINING FABRIC
The bodice of the Noe includes a partial lining (tank top is fully lined) and can be lined in your main fabric if it's lightweight but, if your main fabric is more of a medium weight, I'd suggest choosing a lighter weight option. Suggested lining fabrics are Cotton Lawn, Cotton Voile, Rayon Bemberg, Rayon Challis, Rayon Voile, and Viscose Batiste

- Pressing Ham
- Turning Tool or a Safety Pin, if turning the back ties
