I always sew a bunch of samples for our shoots, but I might have made the most for this pattern release. With four models, three lengths, two front necklines, and two back necklines, I had so many combinations to highlight. I hope that also means that you can get lots of value out of this pattern.

PATTERN DETAILS
Noe is a woven tank and a-line dress. All views include options for a high front or scoop neckline, a full or open back with ties, and bust darts for shaping. You can choose to line the bodice or fully line the dress. View A is a fully lined cropped tank, View B is a short shift dress with hem facing, and View C is a long dress with a ruffle hem.

The Noe pattern is listed as an ADVANCED BEGINNER sewing level. The most difficult part of sewing the pattern is lining the bodice. We use what may be a new technique to cleanly finish the narrow shoulder straps, but once you try it, I hope you will love the construction. If you are a beginner, a more stable fabric like lightweight cotton will be easier than a shiftier fabric like rayon.

The written tutorial includes step-by-step illustrated instructions to guide you along the way. If you would like more help, the Chalk and Notch Facebook Group is a great place to get support. Many of our testers are members there, so you have great resources if you need them.
We'll have a photo sew-along posted soon, along with a few videos for any tricky parts.

Noe Size Chart: Available in Sizes 0 – 30, with A/B and C/D cup options
This style is designed to have an A-line shape. Use the high bust and full bust measurements to determine your size. If you have a small bust, select your size based on your high bust measurement to ensure enough ease through the upper back.
As always, I do recommend sewing a quick muslin of the tank to check fit before sewing your final garment.
Reference the finished garment measurements and ease recommendations for more detailed fit information.

Garment Ease & Finished Length
Noe is designed to be semi-fitted at the bust with an a-line shape at the waist and hips. There is 2" (5 cm) of ease through the bust, 13" (33 cm) of ease through the waist, and 6" (15 cm) of ease through the hips. When sewing the C/D cup, there will be 2" (5 cm) of additional ease through the waist and hips in the front bodice.
The tank is a cropped length and finishes at the natural waist. The short shift dress is a mini length and finishes a few inches above the knee. The long dress is a midi-length, finishing at mid-calf. Review the finished garment measurements from under the arm at the side seam to the hem to determine if you would like to adjust the length.

CUSTOM-FITTING ADJUSTMENTS
All our patterns include basic custom fitting adjustments, but you can find more detailed adjustments and fitting advice in our fitting post here. For this pattern, I suggest making a toile or test fit of the tank (even if you plan to sew the dress) before continuing with precious fabric. If you need additional help or have questions, please feel free to email me or join the Chalk and Notch Patterns Facebook Group – I’m always happy to hear from you!
FABRIC & NOTIONS
Main Fabric
Noe is designed for light to medium weight woven fabrics. Choosing a fabric with nice drape will help it lie closer to the body, while a thicker fabric will stand away from the body and feel more boxy. You can use your main fabric or another light to medium weight fabric for the lining. I used either the main fabric or this super soft cotton poplin from Lycrial Fabrics for most of my linings. I even bought more to use as main fabric since it is so nice.
Throughout this post, we have linked to all of the fabrics used during release, but we also have a blog post with more fabric resources here.

Recommended Main Fabrics
Rayon Challis, Rayon Twill, Rayon Voile, Cotton Lawn, Cotton Voile, Linen, and Chambray. More info on fabric recommendations is available on our Noe Pinterest Board here.
Fabric Chart
The minimum fabric required is listed. If you think you'll need more for shrinkage, directional prints, pattern matching, or pattern repeat, please purchase accordingly.
The lining fabric chart is in addition to the main fabric listed.

Optional Notions
Noe includes no closures, so no additional notions are required, but you may find these helpful.
- Tailor's Chalk
- Turning Tool or Safey Pin
- Hem Gauge

TESTER PHOTOS
Testing a pattern and getting feedback from sewing community members is an important part of our development process. Our Noe Pattern testers were thorough and enthusiastic through the full process with several of them sewing more than one version just for fun. While styled photos are never required when testing, we love sharing any photos submitted. Seeing a pattern on a variety of people and in different fabrics can be a valuable tool. You can find our tester post here.

I’d love to see what you come up with, so if you share your makes, please tag @chalkandnotch and use the hashtags #cnnoe and #chalkandnotchpatterns so I can see your creations.
Thanks for reading about the Noe Tank and Dress sewing pattern! I cannot wait to see what you create with this new pattern.
