Noe Sew Along | Attach Ties and Sew Center Back Opening (Open Back View Only)
This post covers sewing the center back opening for the open back view. If you're not sewing this view, skip ahead to the next post.
If you prefer a video reference, we have an Instagram reel for steps 14-15 HERE.
14. ATTACH TIES AND SEW CENTER BACK OPENING | OPEN BACK VIEW ONLY
Place the raw edge of the tie at the center back, just below the neckline seam.
Sew the tie in place with a 1/4” (0.6 cm) seam to the main fabric.

Fold the lining right sides together, sandwiching the tie between the main and lining. Sew the center back seam, then sew around the back opening at 3/8” (1 cm). Trim the corners and the back opening seam allowance to half.

15. UNDERSTITCH BACK OPENING | OPEN BACK VIEW ONLY
Press your seam allowance towards the lining.
Understitch the back opening by stitching a line 1/16” (0.15 cm) away from the seam on the lining. You may not be able to sew the entire back opening. Make sure to catch the seam allowance towards the lining when stitching. Turn the back bodice right side out and press.
