Rivi Sew Along | Hem & Sew Buttons

You are just about done with your Rivi!

Prep the hem by stitching a fold guide at 1/4” (0.6 cm). Press the hem up 1/4” (0.6 cm), wrong sides together.

Fold the hem up again at 3/8” (1 cm) and pin in place. Sew from the wrong side, edgestitching the double-folded hem in place. Make sure your bobbin thread matches your main fabric. Press the hem.

Try on the blouse or dress to determine the buttonhole spacing. Place a buttonhole at the collar stand, full bust point and then evenly spaced, anywhere between 3” (7.5 cm) to 3.5” (9 cm), down the center front. Sew buttonholes centered on the wearer’s right side placket.

Sew the long sleeve buttonholes on the pleat side of the cuffs, 1/4” (0.6 cm) from the edge and approximately 1” (2.5 cm) apart. Apply fray check before opening the buttonholes.

Sew buttons on the wearer’s left side. Use the buttonholes to mark the placement of the center front and long sleeve buttons.

That's it! You are finished. Give your Rivi a final press!
