OPTIONAL POCKET FACING

Finish the angled edge of the pocket facing or fold it under at 3/8″ (1 cm). Pin the pocket facing right side up to the right side of the under pocket lining. Edgestitch in place. This strengthens the pocket bag lining at the waistband. Alternatively, if you are using main fabric for the pocket bag, you can omit this step.

ATTACH THE UPPER POCKET LINING TO THE FRONT

With the right sides together, sew the upper pocket lining to the front at the angled seam.

UNDERSTITCH THE UPPER POCKET LINING

Press the seam allowance towards the upper pocket lining.

Understitch the upper pocket lining, catching the seam allowance.

ATTACH THE UNDER POCKET LINING TO THE UPPER POCKET

With the right sides together, pin the under pocket lining to the upper pocket lining. Sew the curved edge and finish the seam. Repeat for the other side.

BASTE STITCH THE POCKET TOP AND SIDE SEAMS

Lay the front pieces right side up and line up the pocket notches. Pin the pocket in place and baste stitch the top edge (stopping before center front) and side seam at 1/4″ (0.6 cm). Press.
