JOY JACKET SEW ALONG

Everything you need to know about the Joy Jacket pattern is in this post: size charts, pattern illustrations, and more.

If you’re looking for a little inspiration to get started on your Joy, here are some fabric recommendations for you.

Fitting and custom adjustments is an important part of apparel sewing, we go over the most common adjustments we have seen for the Joy Jacket.

Read about the sewing supplies and notions you’ll need and where you can buy them. You might already have what you need in your stash.

There is a lot of cutting and fusible prep to get this pattern ready to sew, but don’t let that stress you out. Take your time with this part, you will set yourself up for smooth sailing during sewing!

Now we get to start sewing! If you have premade drawstrings, I still suggest making the center back hanger loop out of your main fabric.

Once you start to assemble the main fabric, things can come together quickly and you will start to see your jacket taking shape.

Assemble the lining and hem facing. Remember that any adjustments made to the main fabric sleeves or bodice length, will need to also be applied to the lining pieces.

Assembling the facing and attaching it to the lining. When you are finished with this post, the lining and facing will be complete.

All about adding the hardware. Don’t let that word scare you. I promise it’s not hard! Follow these tips and you’ll learn there’s no need to be intimidated.

This probably seems like the most intimidating step, but it comes together pretty quickly and is really cool. Pulling the jacket right side out feels like magic! By the end of this post, you will have made your very own Joy Jacket!
